Dairy Processing Plant Microbiocide

Whey-cide™ antimicrobial solution is a peroxyacetic acid-based microbiocide designed for federally inspected dairy processing plants and can be used directly or indirectly in lactose or whey operations. It can be added to whole or pasteurized whey during whey protein concentrate production and at any stage where microbiological growth is a concern. As a food additive for human consumption, it effectively reduces bacteria and microorganisms that cause contamination and spoilage. Since Whey-cide™ antimicrobial solution acts as an indirect process additive, it doesn’t need to be declared on any subsequent product labeling.

Per FDA Food Contact Notification #641 and #879, only Enviro Tech Chemical Services, Inc. or its authorized distributors are permitted to use peracetic acid products for whey protein concentrate intended for human consumption. EPA labeling or approval is not required for this product’s use per ARTCA, 1998 under FFDCA regulations #201(q)(1)(B)(i).
